Alfred Thompson Comments on an ideal first programming language

I think this is an interesting post because Alfred has a broad view of a number of technologies and although they all offer some great features and capabilties there are still areas for improvement.  I really appreciated Alfred's insights in this post.  You read about it on his blog ->

Talking about Resilience can get you through life's trials - Behavior- msnbc.com

Interesting article on resilience.

Resilience can get you through life's trials - Behavior- msnbc.com

The article lists four main things that resilent people do in their lives.

1. They take control of their lives - "They don't see themselves as victims whose fate is in the hands of others"

2. They forge connections - getting support from others

3. They allow pain to spur growth

4. They insist on changing the world

Rules for Fast Prototyping

  1. What can you do to make your prototype concrete today?
  2. Who can you enlist to rake your prototype to the next level?
  3. How can you get the prototype into a forum that allows a broad range of feedback?
  4. Are there existing products or services that are not competitors that you can learn from?
  5. Keep versions of your prototype so you can see the progress and evolution.
  6. Really consider using a tool that allows you to version control various (all) artifacts of your prototype.
  7. Make a list of key milestones your believe are required to make your prototype a real product or service.
  8. Create a journal to track the start, evoltuion and progress of the prototype.
  9. Put up a intranet or internet site (as appropriate) to allow discovery and collaboration on your prototype.
  10. Put up a Wiki to allow collaborators to provide ideas, suggestions and content to help with the prototype.
  11. Put up a blog to allow rapid updates and information sharing on the prototype.
  12. Need instant update ability for your prototype?  Consider using twitter.
  13. Mearsure pages views, RSS subscriptions and video views so you can measure momentum of the prototype.
  14. Make sure you have a significant amount of momentum before you make the prototype an offical santioned project.
  15. If things have evolved and your prototype is limiting your progress throw it out and build a new prototype.
  16. If your tools are limiting your prototyping then throw them out and select new tools.
  17. Start with the simplest prototype tools (a pen and paper, a whiteboard and marker)
